Technical Sales Representative

We are looking for an enthusiastic and results-driven individual to join our team as a Technical Sales Representative at our newly renovated head office in Coquitlam, B.C. Reporting directly to the Sales Manager, this position will be responsible for providing prompt, courteous and knowledgeable service to clients.  

As a Technical Sales Representative, you will use your knowledge of residential design and construction to build the Tamlin brand, one project at a time. You will use your expertise in customer service to work with each client as you move them through the process of sales qualification, home design, estimation, contract administration, production and final shipping of their house package. With the support of our seasoned team of in-house staff, industry-leading prefabricated systems, and comprehensive on-the-job training, your success will only be limited to your own commitment and drive. 

Responsibilities

  • Having completed a comprehensive period of on-the-job training (including residential construction, prefabricated home product/services, and house package sales) the individual will be expected to meet company objectives and personal sales objectives.
  • Handle house package inquiries with a technical understanding of the building process and specifications in BC, Canada, and the USA.
  • Utilize your sales skills and experience to qualify and engage potential clients.
  • Grow your sales funnel and pipeline with sales leads generated through Tamlin’s website, advertising, social media, marketing initiatives and client/builder referral network in BC, Canada, and the USA.
  • Utilize HubSpot CRM system efficiently to respond to inquiries and engage clients in sales communications (email, phone, video conference, walk-ins, referrals, etc.)
  • Work independently and with the support of Tamlin’s in-house sales/design team to move qualified clients from initial building discussions through the stages of the sales cycle from preliminary design through to quotation, contract, and house package delivery.
  • Follow established procedures to present quotations and sales contracts to ensure clarity of costs, specifications, terms, and conditions.  
  • Participate in sales training sessions, technical workshops, and other sales/marketing development programs as necessary.
  • Meet regular sales reporting deadlines and attend weekly sales strategy team meetings.
  • Maintain regular office hours and perform other sales tasks as required.  
  • Follow up with clients to provide the best customer service experience.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Familiar with North American residential timber frame construction, design, and/or project management
  • 3 or more years of sales experience, and a genuine interest in the industry. 
  • Computer literate with proficiency using Microsoft Office software.
  • Experience with HubSpot CRM is an asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural plans. 
  • AutoCAD is an asset.
  • Exceptional verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.
  • High level of integrity and work ethic.
  • Maintain a high level of product and service knowledge.

Pay Range $60,000 to $70,000 Annually plus commissions earned.

Senior Architectural Technologist

As a Senior Architectural Technologist, you will play a pivotal role in this process by leading and mentoring junior designers to ensure they reach their full potential, particularly in the use of Revit and 3D rendering software. Your guidance and expertise will be invaluable in enhancing the capabilities of our junior staff. If you’re ready to make a significant impact, we invite you to apply.

Responsibilities 

  • Translate client visions into design approaches, offering creative concepts that exceed
  • customer expectations.
  • Plan production schedules and workflow for the entire design process.
  • Provide technical and creative guidance as needed.
  • Identify and offer solutions to complex design challenges.
  • Oversee the execution of design concepts to ensure they align with the initial vision.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor junior designers.
  • Prepare and participate in internal/external meetings as required.


Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in architectural technology or building technology from a
  • recognized Canadian institution
  • To qualify for this role, you will have significant residential, wood frame house design experience along with a comprehensive and practical knowledge of, and the ability to interpret, the BC Building Code (Part 9) and Step Code. You will be willing to apply this knowledge to international (USA) residential wood frame house construction. This role will also require a thorough knowledge of Revit and 3D Software.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong time management and project management skills.

Junior Architectural Technologist

As a Junior Architectural Technologist, you’ll work professionally with clients, highly experienced colleagues, suppliers, engineers, and consultants to carry out the requirements of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing conceptual drawings using Revit, and 3D Modelling software
  • Revising and refining architectural details within each project’s design parameters such as client expectations, function, design, topography, bylaws, location, engineering, and budget needs.
  • Learning and applying in-house building systems for timber frame, prefabricated wall panels, hybrid roof structures (SIPs, timber, conventional, engineered trusses) and foundations (ICF)
  • Reviewing, interpreting, and applying building codes to ensure that designs meet local requirements.
  • Preparing full permit sets, construction plans, shop drawings, and prefabricated component details (such as post and beam connections) for each project
  • Assisting with bill of materials and coordination for the procurement of house package materials as required
  • Participating in face to face or Teams client meetings, engineering meetings, and weekly staff meetings
  • Communicating with clients or builders on various design details and specifications to maintain the highest level of customer service
  • Ensuring that deadlines for projects are met by reporting to the Design Manager
  • Working with the design team to create new Tamlin signature plans for website and social media

Requirements

  • To qualify for this role, you will have significant residential, wood frame house design experience along with a comprehensive and practical knowledge of, and the ability to interpret, the BC Building Code (Part 9) and Step Code. You will be willing to apply this knowledge to international (USA) residential wood frame house construction. This role will also require a thorough knowledge of Revit and 3D Software.
  • As our ideal candidate for this role, you will be an excellent communicator both verbally and in written form while also possessing the ability to visualize, organize, problem-solve, and balance aesthetics with function. Your natural aptitude for creative thinking will allow you to effectively utilize our existing design systems while also adapting or recommending other techniques and technologies.
