This custom project at Bridge Lake is a strong example of a high-performance recreational home designed for the Cariboo region of British Columbia. At 2,504 sq. ft., the home combines the warmth of timber frame construction with a modern and efficient building system. The exterior features a traditional use of natural stone and wood, creating a grounded architectural presence that reflects its lakeside setting.

The arrival experience is defined by a covered port cochere, leading into a home where handcrafted Douglas Fir timber extends throughout the interior and out onto expansive covered decks overlooking the lake. At the center of the design is a dramatic open concept great room, where a peaked wood ceiling and exposed timber structure rise through two levels, creating a sense of height and openness that defines the interior.

Large windows are carefully positioned to maximize natural light and capture views of the water, while supporting energy performance in a climate that experiences both cold winters and warm summers. The layout includes a walk out basement that expands the living space and allows the home to fully engage with the sloping site, balancing openness with comfort for both seasonal use and extended stays.
