Located on a wooded bluff in Brinnon, Washington, this Georgia Strait project is a compelling example of how timber frame design can respond to a dramatic coastal setting. This three-bedroom, two-bathroom home is carefully positioned to capture expansive views of the Hood Canal, while remaining grounded within the surrounding forest.
The home’s dark exterior allows it to recede into the landscape, creating a quiet architectural presence among the trees. In contrast, the warmth of Douglas Fir timber introduces a sense of comfort and shelter, reinforcing the feeling of a private retreat. The result is a home that feels both modern and deeply connected to its natural surroundings.
Inside, the open concept living, dining, and kitchen areas are framed by large windows that bring natural light into every space while drawing the landscape inward. The experience of the home is defined by this constant relationship between interior and exterior, where forest and water views shift throughout the day, creating a sense of calm and immersion in the setting.

For this project, Tamlin’s panelized system allowed structural components to be manufactured in a controlled environment and delivered ready for assembly, allowing the home to reach lock up efficiently.
By reducing time on site and improving coordination, the construction process remained controlled while maintaining the integrity of the design. This approach is particularly effective in coastal settings, where durability, timing, and build quality are critical to long term performance.
