INTERESTED IN THIS BUILD?
Located on Galiano Island, the Bodega Beach project is the original design that established the Panorama Series, created to respond to a dramatic coastal setting. Positioned on a bluff, this 2,569 sq. ft. custom home is shaped by wind, salt air, and changing weather conditions, while fully engaging with expansive ocean views. With its extensive glazing and unobstructed outlook, the design defines the Panorama name.
Completed as a prefabricated home in a remote island setting, the project was recognized as a Georgie Award finalist for Best Custom Home in its category, reflecting both its architectural clarity and execution.
The main living space is defined by a striking double height interior, where glass railings and exposed Douglas Fir post and beam structure create a sense of openness and precision within a clean, modern form. Large windows frame the surrounding landscape, while a direct transition from the great room to an expansive outdoor deck supports a strong connection between interior and exterior living.
The layout is carefully planned to balance function with view orientation, making the home well suited for both a primary residence and a coastal retreat. Materials and detailing are selected to support long term durability in a marine environment while reinforcing a refined West Coast architectural character.
The Efficiency of Prefabrication
Building on Galiano Island requires careful coordination due to ferry access and limited site conditions. For the Bodega Beach project, Tamlin’s panelized system allowed the structural shell to be assembled efficiently, reducing time on site and minimizing exposure to coastal weather during critical stages of the build.
By manufacturing structural components in a controlled environment, the design intent is maintained while supporting a more precise and predictable assembly process. This approach is particularly effective in remote coastal settings, where logistics, durability, and timing are closely tied to long term performance.
