For 43 years Tamlin has been shipping our unique Canadian house packages worldwide. About 25 years ago we started shipping more of our prefabricated house packages to the US market. Our British Columbia coastal wood is some of the best in the world and our combination of western red cedar and douglas fir in all our homes gives them a unique west coast feel that is appreciated right across the USA. We have shipped, and continue to ship, homes throughout our closest neighbour Washington State and to Oregon, California, Idaho, Montana, Colorado, Connecticut and New Hampshire, just to name a few.
In addition to the quality of our materials and the uniqueness of our designs, our US clients can take advantage of the fact that there are no duties or Canadian taxes charged on house packages shipped to the USA. It is always recommended that you check to make sure you will not have to self assess any state taxes.
Our US clients have also been taking advantage of a strong US dollar against the Canadian dollar and it does not look like that is going to change anytime soon. The Canadian dollar has dipped considerably in recent days due to the uncertainty in international markets because of the current pandemic, but when it picks back up we are still expecting it to remain at about 30% less that the US dollar
Tamlin is a one stop shop for our US clients as – in addition to construction plans – the permit plans and engineering (by a US engineer certified for your state) for your prefabricated house package are taken care of by Tamlin.
Tamlin will work with you and your builder to make sure your shipment arrives once your foundation is in so you don’t have material sitting on site when you need to get other equipment such as concrete trucks onto your site. The trucks with your complete house package will all cross the border at the same time and then stagger delivery to your site. We recommend that you unload all the trucks first then stage your shipment. (see our blog on Staging a Shipment)
The Tamlin team is available to you and your builder throughout the construction of your home to answer any questions that may come up. We feel priveledged to be a part of the design and manufacture of your dream home and want to make sure that the construction goes smoothly.
